Snow Seeking at Mount Taranaki

Wednesday 15th August 2018
We arrived in New Plymouth late Tuesday afternoon and checked into our AirBnB. It was quite the drive there (3 hours of wet, winding roads!), so we had a quiet night of playing games then off to bed early so we would all have the energy for the following day.

Daddy and Jack breakfast date ♥

Andy and I did our usual morning coffee run while Jack was having his morning nap with Nanny. This day it was coffee from Ozone Coffee Roasters.

Followed by lunch at Chaos Cafe.

After lunch we made our way to Egmont National Park to see if we could see any snow on Mount Taranaki... and there it was!

Andy, Sam and I started out on the Ngatoro Loop Track, hopeful to get as close to the snow as possible.

We were only 20 minutes in when we realised it was far too wet from the previous days rain to hike any further with our non-hiking shoes. We were happy that we got a closer look at the snow, but disappointed we couldn't go further.

We made our way back to the car to head home for the afternoon.

The view over the Taranaki...

and Mount Taranaki looking stunning!

After we arrived home Jack took his first steps!!! He took 4 steps from the coffee table to Nanny T. We knew he had been getting more confident on his feet, but were not expecting him to walk! We didn't get footage of his first steps, but here he is a little later taking a few more...
