Camping in Kingscliff

Friday 27th March 2015
We planned this little break away almost a year ago (to secure the best camp site of course!) and we were excited to spend a long weekend away camping by the beach. We booked two nights at the Kingscliff Beach Holiday Park which is about a 1 1/2 hour drive from our house.

A little someone wanted to come with us but we had to leave him at home. We say it often, if only he was a dog!

We feel in love with this little coastal town when we were staying in Casuarina last year. We went on a drive to Kingscliff, Andy spotted the camping grounds and went and booked our next visit then and there!

We arrived at our campsite where we had the beach at our doorstep, literally.

After setting up our site we decided to make the most of the beautiful afternoon and go for a walk along the beach.

We learnt the hard way, that even when camping, people still can steal your stuff! Our esky that contained all of our food for the weekend was left outside the tent overnight and some bugger took off with it during the night – people are normally more decent than this when you go camping, however, our campsite backed onto a carpark for a local tavern so non-campers were often around the area – lesson learnt.

After a quick walk to the local supermarket, we were stocked back up with food and ready to enjoy the day. Relaxing, swimming, reading and repeat! The Kingscliff Markets also happened to be on when we were there so we spent some of the afternoon wandering around and enjoying the stalls.

For dinner it was snags on the barbie gas stove! An Aussie tradition when camping.

This was our first time using our new tent and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a two person or small family sized tent. After a ton of research we decided on the Black Wolf Turbo Lite Plus 300. It is by far the easiest tent I have ever had to put up and had plenty of room for sleeping and storing all of our camping needs thanks to the two room design. It is also made to handle all weather so you feel safe knowing that if a storm came your way that this tent would stay put!

What a view to wake up to…

Some of my favourite pics from around the park.

We packed up nice and early so we could grab some breakfast before we made the journey home. We headed down to Marine Parade in search of good food and a large coffee.

No matter where we are in the world, we always seem to find little fur friends!

Kettles on Cafe pulled out the goods! The perfect way to finish our little getaway.
