Overnight Getaway to Bribie

Friday 6th November 2015
A night away was just what was needed after a hectic few months – selling and buying houses really takes it out of you!

We booked a beach front campsite for the night at Ocean Beach in Bribie Island National Park. Access to Ocean Beach requires a 4wd, so our new Suzuki Grand Vitara was going to get its first taste of off road driving.

The campsites are located about 16kms north of the beach access point, and after a nice drive up the beach we arrived our home for the night. We were staying at campsite ‘J’ site number 18.

A perfect little spot with a great view of the beach over the sand dunes.

Our campsite, which came with a perfectly positioned hammock friendly tree!

After setting up camp it was time for an afternoon coffee, made with Andy’s new AeroPress. Such an easy way to make delicious coffee when you are camping.

Later in the afternoon we walked up the beach to find a spot to hang the hammock, read a book and just enjoy the surroundings. Andy was in charge of the hammock…

Fail…

Got it in the end!

We spent the rest of the day in the Grand Vitara exploring the Northern Access Track.

Such a great car, couldn’t be happier with it!

Meeting the locals.

We ended the day with a sunset walk along the beach. Although this picture looks peaceful, don’t be fooled… the wind was intense and there was a huge storm brewing just inland from us. Luckily for us – and our tent! – it passed just south of us and headed out to sea.

We packed up early and decided to head home via the Northern Access Track.

I love how the landscape changes around every corner.

Inflating the tires before hitting the road.

Until next time Bribie.
