Coastal Getaway

Wednesday 8th August 2018
When we planned our holiday to New Zealand we thought it would be fun to do a couple of mini getaways with Mum and Sam to break up our 2 week trip. Our first destination was Whiritoa, a small coastal village on the East Coast of the North Island, about 15mins south of the more well known town of Whangamata. We drove up late on Tuesday afternoon, then had a relaxing Wednesday morning inside hiding from the rain. Come the afternoon we needed some fresh air so decided to brave the stormy weather and go for a walk along the beach that our AirBnB overlooked.

Ergobaby 360 Carrier: the best travel item for a baby! Jack loves this carrier and will happily sit in there observing the world around him.

A few minutes walk up the beach is where the Ramarama Stream connects to the ocean.

The water moves swiftly, and rises fast as the waves roll in.

Andy and Sam went for the same walk the day before and decided to cross the stream when it was quite low. In the short time that they were over the other side, the water had risen so much they almost had to swim back. Now that would have been cold!

"Excuse me Nanny"

"Ohhh that is interesting"

These impressive trees greeted us on our walk back, and looked slightly eerie with the dim light peaking through.
